PAPAGALOS RESTAURANT OIA

One of the restaurants with a story or two to tell about the village over the years been in oia from the early days of tourism serving traditional Greek cuisine but with one or two dishes from the continent
If you go for sure order their home made fries (chunky and skins ).If you just want to sit and watch the world pass by over good wines and their starters then great but also their main dishes for example Bavetle pasta a creamy sauce with chicken , broccoli and cherry tomatoes and parmigiana cheese or stay with the Greek traditional food but for sure the atmosphere is relaxed and the jazz and easy listening music just chill you out .

SKALA YESTERDAY ON EASTER SUNDAY

As is the tradition for many countries to display flowers outside a house or business to show 1st of may it was lovely to see yesterday to start of a lovely easter sunday

Christos also doing his traditional joy in checking the lamb to see if it was ready ...
.I found out that on Santorini and the islands the people would celebrate easter grilling fresh fish rather than lamb this became part of easter in the late 70s when greek people from mainland started to return to the islands .
I have never acquired the love to eat the inner part of the head but i have seen some greek friends in absolute joy to see the head on their plate ,but enjoy sharing a piece with their family or friends and wishing them happy easter .

A great day was had by all on a lovely hot sunny easter enjoying great food and wine
with traditional greek music  playing in the background .

KRINAKI TAVERNA =THE HUB OF FINIKA SANTORINI

http://www.krinaki-santorini.gr/krinaki/krinaki/contact_eng.html

Anthony one of the owners of krinaki and can be seen
as a person who loves the style of charcoal grilling of meat and fresh fish . He takes great pride and joy in the cuts of meat that when it comes to cooking you know there is no such question as" how would you like your meat done? "
There is also a joy in going into this taverna when you can find at times the local older generation there in the morning selling their vegetables, wild greens and cheese,to watch anthony's eyes light up and this shows in the enjoyment of his presentation of the final salads  or vegetation dishes he serves in his taverna .

This garden or should i say terrace is a joy to sit in and look down into the gardens of finika or the local people going about their everyday lifestyles ie. housework, cooking and in the lovely warm evenings in  spring or summer sitting in their garden chairs nattering about their day in a lovely ease of simple lives that the finika people are known for .

KRINAKI TAVERNA FINIKA

"Krinaki" is situated at Finikia village, which is on top of the plains of Oia in Santorini. Finikia was always tied to the harvests of Santorini, since its people took care of the lands and the vineyards, the fava, the tomatoes, the eggplants, the zucchini, the vegetables that were produced every season, as well as the few trees of the island, mainly figs and some mulberries.
"Krinakihas a unique relationship with the traditional agricultural products of this village. It has also been a cava in the time period of exporting wine and has combined its two wells into the deco of  a grand building with lots of history of  finika lifestyle . Try their meat dishes that have been cooked on charcoal to your request
