Today is overcast and a little bit cold but it is only 24th of march .....But for the last few days it has been like summer during the day with a chill in the evening only one day so far experiencing rain .Took a lovely easy day on Thirassia meeting up again with the local people and finding out how they passed their winter plus finding out on the gossip for tourism this year.N nothing has changed on the island and it is like it was when I first visited it 16 years ago .
Returning on the public taxi boat that leaves Amudie and goes to Thirassia ,seeing the view of Amudie and above Oia it is so rewarding on a lovely warm sunny day .
Yes there have been some changes in Oia but the feeling never goes and Anthony the captain with his big gentle smile keeps the life line going from one island to the other. There is a lovely feeling of genuine Greek hospitality in the air of friends coming together again after a winter away simple hello is all that is needed to understand my meaning of words.
The wild life at the moment fly around in total comfort preparing for a season of tourism finding their nests .It is amazing at how many wild birds you can find at the moment stopping on the island before flying to far away places now I can understand the fresco paintings when they drew on their walls times etc of life in historical periods that still come to life but we now catch them on digital.At the moment we have the Bluestar ferry that arrives at about 3:30-4 pm coming from main land sailing into the doors of Santorini via Amudie is like watching out for friends ,families and visitors coming.
The island slowly slowly is coming into the summer of 2014 with a feeling of excitement you can feel where ever you go.
