Sitting here in Glasgow thinking what can I write about today for my blog,I thought what do people ask me about when they want to know about Santorini and it always come up "The weather "

#Santorini Mysteries

We all think of the calm sea in the Caldera when waking up to a bright sunny morning.That mist that hangs over the tops of buildings and plants as drops of water. Creating a stillness to the climate of the island and the chillness which slowly slowly glides away as the morning opens to the heat of the sun that shines everyday in spring until winter.

Santorini is what I describe as a tropical place as it has a very short time of feeling cold. 

The only feeling of winter on the island is when the northern winds blow from November until late February (But not everyday ),but there are the warm winds that blow from Crete and I remember one Christmas several years ago it was strange for me to not cook the turkey in the oven but have a barbecue wearing a t shirt,that is why I say it is a tropical island.

 

For those who are thinking about holidays on Santorini this is my guideline and my experience

 

January -March :Some winds,Showers on average with one or two days of heavy rain,Sunny   days.Great for people who want to get away and relax and if you enjoy                                             reading,writing,painting or hiking then it is a must.(The best of this time of year                                 you really see the lifestyle of Santorini and become involved in meeting and                                       knowing the people of the island and Greek hospitality. 

 April-May. :   Chance of winds,less chance of rain,sun shine is a sure. The island is open in the sense that tourist amenities eg shops,restaurants and  hotels are all open for the season .

 June-July: Weather for people who enjoy summer weather and having lovely comfortable evening weather. 

August : A month for people who love glories sunny days when in mid August the temp can reach                   40-45c but in the evening when the sunsets there is at times a lovely cool breeze.

 September :   A month of the best time of the year of sunny glories days, warm evenings.

 October Weather is still great more so for people who like mild sunny days and cool                                        evenings.Towards end of last week possible chance of light rain in evenings.

 November :     Weather starts cooling down sunshine,possible chance of one or two days of winds                        in general still good weather and great for walking ,shopping and sightseeing the                               island. Chilly in the evenings when sunsets and early morning. 

December :   Sunny days with chances of cloudy days and rain. In the evenings cold . 

                 Santorini is an island that can meet everyone's needs from been an Artist to relaxing on                  a beach. Enjoyment is found as an indoor or outdoor all the year round as the weather is                  amazing even in the winter so have a great time.
